Devers Arrives & Price vs. Eck!!

By Dave Hill – @dwill517

Ah, DD you silly silly man.  You have a horrible poker face!  Devers wasn’t going to see the show this year and spend another season in the minors for seasoning.  LOL we all knew after about a month that Sandoval was a bust, and that 3rd base will either be manned by Brock Holt, or it’ll be a platoon job.  Alas, vertigo claimed most of the season for the Brockstar, and what they’ve had at 3rd just hasn’t really panned out the way they had hoped/imagined.  So they just put a bandaid on it and prayed that it would just stay okay enough to last the season, or until they make a move for a 3B.

Devers is a great talent, and has been tearing it up in the minors all season, so I mean….why the hell not?!  When it comes to third base, at this point throw something at the wall and see if it sticks!  I hope Devers can deliver on the defensive side of the ball and if he hits well, that’s icing on the cake in my opinion.

Benintendi did the same thing and it took a little time to get acclimated to MLB pitching as opposed to AA ball.

Now, on with the rest of the show!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s come out in the press that details from the Price-Eckersley dust up has come to light, and boy….Price looks BAD in this whole thing.

Keep in mind that this is a blog, and it’s my opinion, so if you are reading and disagree, that’s fine….you’re entitled to your opinion.  However, Eck didn’t do a thing wrong in my opinion.  He commented on E-Rod’s bad outing while on a rehab assignment.

Eck is no stranger to controversy and isn’t afraid to speak his mind.  In fact, that’s part of the reason why he’s so beloved in Red Sox Nation as a color analyst!  In a day of such malaise and lack of causing waves, Eck is a straight shooter and is unapologetic about it!!

I don’t care if you’re David Price, Edwin Rodriguez, or Clay FREAKING Buchholz….if a hall of fame player who played YOUR position has an OPINION on something….that’s his right!  His job is to be a color analyst and comment on what he sees and hears.  So if that’s what got Price all butthurt, he needs to take a look in the mirror because guess what?  He’s a World Series champ and is in Cooperstown.  Two things that Price will probably NEVER see!

This isn’t all about Price and Eck, either!  It also reflects poorly on the organization as a whole.  From John Henry all the way down to Farrell.  They just let it happen and haven’t said a thing about it other than they’re handling it internally.

As of today (Tuesday July 25th), Eckersley is standing his ground (as he should), and Price has not issued any kind of apology or explanation of what happened.  I would love to see some kind of resolution here and get it out in the open and taken care of.  This whole season has possibly been the most turbulent since the 2012 Bobby Valentine season!

Pedroia/Machado, Eck and Price, lack of hitting and run support, hit and miss pitching….yet we are in first place….?  How is this possible?

This is a first place team that has issues you’d see on a 5th place team with chemistry and front office-clubhouse/management issues.  We are the best and the worst all at the same time!
