As I write this, the Sox are down 1 in the top of the 9th inning.
Okay….so worst case scenario, we end up a wild card spot and have to face Cleveland. If we win and clinch the division….we keep playing these guys. It’s not a favorable disposition any way you slice it.
With the way this team is playing now, yeah they’d dominate the rest of the division (excluding the yankees), but against the creme-de-la-creme of the AL, they’re CLEARLY subpar!
Players play the games and I understand that. However managerial gaffes all season with the rotation and the bullpen has lost us enough games that we wouldn’t be in this position under “normal” circumstances.
I get that Farrell isn’t complely to blame for how they finish the season….however with his mismanaging of the pitching staff, and the various other fires that have been burning all season (price/eck, pablo, pedey/machado), it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing at any point this season.
Do I think the Red Sox are going to be an easy out? I don’t. I think they’ll be a tough team no matter where they land in the playoff bracket. Are they World Series material? No way….but they can def make a run. Stranger things have happened!
It’s never easy, is it?
