Hi guys, long time no see. Somtimes we need a break after such a long season, and with me that has definitely been the case. But in case you havent seen, and I think you PROBABLY should have, the slugger formely known as Mike Stanton has been traded to the Yankees, and first reactions, mine included have all been paniced. But just wait and minute and lets reflect.
Look at the following lineup and tell me what you see?
- Brett Gardner, LF
- Didi Gregorius, SS
- Giancarlo Stanton, DH
- Aaron Judge, RF
- Gary Sanchez, C
- Greg Bird, 1B
- Aaron Hicks, CF
- Gleyber Torres, 2B
- Chase Headley, 3B
You want to know what I see? Price, Sale, and Porcello jumping up in strikes. Tons of players left on base. Several probable injuries, slumps and inconsistency. I see us picking up a bat to match. I see us having a better left fielder, center fielder, right fielder, shortstop, third baseman and second baseman. And I see our team matching.
Im not being a homer here. I have thought about this all day. The Yankees just added a ton of salary. And although they are due to have salary come off the books in future years with A-Rod coming off, I still think that we are poised to match this classicaly built Yankees team, while being better set for the future.
So although its easy to run around with our heads cut off (sticking with the chicken metaphor) just wait and watch. The AL East is going to be the most dominant divison in baseball again. And the Yankees are the Yankees again. We have a new manager, and its time to get our bats going, and our K’s up. We will add a bat. We will get more consistency out of our lineup. And we will compete. Mark my words.
