EVERY POSSIBLE BOSTON RED SOX PLAYOFF MATCHUP IS SCARY

By Terry Cushman – @cushmanMLB

The Indians just reached a whole new level of scary with Brad Hand now in their bullpen, and Adam Cimber.  Their rotation is phenomenal and they have a lineup who can mash.

Yankees have a great offense similar to Boston, and probably the best bullpen in the A.L. now that Betances has returned to dominance.  If they can land a decent starting pitcher, they will be a tough matchup for Boston.  Severino has learned how to pitch against Boston.  Sabathia has owned us the last few years.  And that bullpen won’t be surrendering any late leads.

The Houston Astros are the defending champs, have absolutely the best rotation in all the majors.  Once they finally add a bullpen addition, they will likely be the most complete team in MLB.  They have a great farm, so I’m not sure what’s taking so long to make an upgrade.  Especially since Herrera wasnt too costly for a rental.

My point in all of this?  The Red Sox won’t get a free pass no matter who they play in the ALDS.  Everyone is scary and stacked.

Although, if you think about it, the Red Sox were the “Free Pass” the last two seasons!

  1. JD Martinez has all the credit but the most important stage is missing, which is the second half of the season, which is where the best and the great players who put numbers for their team are shown or come out.
BOSTON is not going to make a high profile contract for not paying the luxury tax.
if a case hire cheaper players to refresh the bullpen.
